Benefits

  • Universal Compatibility: JPG files work on virtually all devices and software.
  • Simple Conversion: Convert any image with just two clicks – no technical knowledge required.
  • Privacy Focused: All conversion happens locally in your browser – no data is sent to external servers.
  • Lightweight: The extension is small and doesn’t slow down your browsing experience.
  • Free to Use: No cost, no ads, no tracking.

Troubleshooting

The “Save Image As JPG” option doesn’t appear: Make sure the extension is properly installed and enabled in Chrome. You can check by going to chrome://extensions/ in your browser.

Can’t convert some images: Due to web security restrictions (CORS – Cross-Origin Resource Sharing), some websites may prevent their images from being accessed by extensions. Unfortunately, this is a limitation of web security and not something the extension can bypass. However, you have a solution: open the image you want to convert in another tab and then Save it as JPG.

The converted image quality is too low/high: The extension uses a 90% quality setting for JPG conversion, which provides a good balance between file size and image quality for most uses.

Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. The Save Image As JPG extension:

  • Does not collect any user data
  • Does not transmit any information to external servers
  • Only processes images when you explicitly use the context menu option
